"These medals are a physical representation of my Service and teams and events I have been proud to have played a part in. The military epitomises teamwork, camaraderie and a sense of belonging to something that is more than the sum of its parts, honed in environments that cannot be recreated in the same way in any other environment, however, the lessons learned from these experiences are as relevant in everyday life and other high performing cultures, as they are in the military operational context."

Dan Sammut

Human Intelligence for Performance specialist

My journey with human intelligence started as a Police Constable in Hampshire police, where I served for 3 and a half years. This role required the formal capture of human intelligence through the interview process, but also the less formal but no less difficult, skill of human interaction on the streets, breaking down the barriers that the uniform automatically formed with certain people.

The ability to suspend judgement was key to establishing relationships and understanding situations. This aligned perfectly with the ethos of Performance Edge. In 2004, I joined the Royal Air Force for a 16-year tenure, holding diverse roles such as leading teams in challenging environments, strategic planning at RAF headquarters, and serving as Squadron Commander at RAF College Cranwell, shaping future RAF leaders.

Since leaving the RAF I have worked as a security consultant and on the organising committee of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
